Dear Souls,
I have been thinking about the word “achievement” and how everyone of us can define what they perceive and value as achievements. Still, I personally have been doing a lot of inner work for years, and this led me to perceive my ongoing inner evolution as an achievement because it required a lot of dedication, time, and resolve too. I do also like to think about it as what I call my “spiritual achievements”. From here, higher thinking ensues…and I invite you to read my take on it.
When we try to assess how successful we are, we tend to focus on our visible and material achievements. But have you ever thought about your “invisible achievements”? The ones that are not necessarily visible to the eyes; and that cannot be posted on the social networks. However, when we go through life challenges, we are also forced or given the opportunity to grow our inner self with fortitude and a set of skills like resilience, strength, emotional intelligence, patience, humility, endurance etc.
The road of trials, you can find yourself on, can also push you to cultivate life wisdom, faith, and hope from your most painful experiences. If you go through loss and grief, maybe you could grow resilience and compassion from mourning. A close call or setbacks can also be the catalyst for you to reconsider your act and to evolve.
Thus, all your experiences hold the possibilities for you to shape new perspectives, new beliefs, mindsets, and therefore new attitudes. Sometimes, your heartbreaks and losses can be the cause for a deeper transformation of your identity, your self-concept or your sense of purpose and meaning in life. Your failures and mistakes can be a stepping stone for the next level of your life.
This is what I call your “invisible achievements”. They are so valuable if not more than your visible achievements. My invitation for you is to consider the reservoir of resources you have inside of you. The qualities you would need and rely on when hardships, changes, disruptions, and unexpected events happen.
Your inner resources can also be a source of inspiration for strangers and your beloved ones. Who knows who you might influence with your courage, your empathy, your perseverance, your goodness and so on. Maybe you are a beacon of hope for someone because you overcame major defeats and had to start all over again many times in your life.
Next time you find yourself focused on your success, do also reflect on your invisible achievements. For they are golden, and they are parts of your luminous richness.
My hope is that this perspective can spark a light inside of you.
